MARGATE SOUL FESTIVAL – Latest victim of Covid uncertainty

Following the Government decision to extend the COVID restrictions for a further 4 weeks, it is with great disappointment and regret that we announce the postponement of Margate Soul Festival 2021.
Restrictions and number limitations currently set by Government would have prevented us from delivering the street activity and would therefore have compromised our ability to deliver the whole festival experience that so many have come to love.
We had considered basing the event entirely in The Winter Gardens and Sunset Stage, where only the ticketed element would have been staged. However, the possibility of social distancing remaining in place, and the probability that lateral testing or vaccination certificates would be required has made it impossible to plan.
The most recent extension of the 21st June deadline, pushed us too close to the event date to plan the festival effectively.
This has been a very difficult and painful decision to make, and we are sorry that so many of the people who have supported the event over the last 19 years will be disappointed. However, our absolute priority is the safety of all those who would have been attending.
So, looking forward to a brighter future, Margate Soul Festival is excited to announce that planning has already begun for next year’s event, which will be our 20th Anniversary, and so extra special.
As in 2020, tickets will be rolled over and honoured in 2022, helping to guarantee the future of the festival, but we understand that not everyone is able to do this, so refunds will also be available.
We are so looking forward to seeing you all on the weekend of 5th – 7th August 2022.
